Until Next Week Be Good, Have Fun & Stay Safe Did You Know? That Beckton has a famous cinematic past? In the mid-1980s, legendary director Stanley Kubrick used the derelict, industrial wasteland of the old Beckton Gas Works to film his classic Vietnam War movie, Full Metal Jacket, because it perfectly resembled a bombed-out city. Our neighborhood also served as the dystopian backdrop for the film adaptation of George Orwell's 1984, and even featured in the dramatic opening sequence of the James Bond movie, For Your Eyes Only. |
